I am a mother but my daughter is more of a mother to me than I am to her. I lost my mother at a very young age and now I find myself giving the same love and attention to her that I had always craved as a child . But my motherhood, has nothing to do with my gender. I am Gauri and I am a transgender, I belong to the Hijra Community. I work for my people and I aim to give them a better life and also protect the children of sex workers and give them a safe life. I am a proud mother of a very sweet girl, Rani. My daughter often tells me what kind of sarees and hairstyles look good on me. Our mother daughter duo shares a very special bond of friendship. I think we should allow our children to do things for themselves, allow them to be strong and let them believe more in themselves.
